Goldilocks (TV special)

Goldilocks is a half hour musical animated film, the audio tracks for which were recorded in the summer of 1969, produced strictly for television in 1970 by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (known for their work on The Pink Panther, of which the animation style is strongly reminiscent) and produced with the assistance of Mirisch-Geoffrey Productions

First broadcast on ABC in March 1971, the production was scripted by AJ Carothers, the songs were written by Robert and Richard Sherman who also assisted with production (which was unusual in those days) along with veteran animation producers David H. DePatie and Friz Freleng and starred Bing Crosby. The show was unique in that it included not only Bing himself, but his then-wife and two youngest children as well.

Partial Live Action/Vocal Cast included:

The film included three songs:

All three songs were included in the soundtrack album along with dialogue clips from the show and narration by famed voice-over actor Paul Winchell. First released as DL-3511 as a Special Limited Edition for Armstrong Carpets' Evans-Black Carpets by MCA Special Markets in 1971, the album was re-released by Disneyland Records as ST-3889 with an accompanying 12-page storybook.

In addition, the first two songs were re-recoded in Hollywood at A&M Studios six months later for release as a pop single. Reference acetates of the single were cut, and test pressings were made, however the single was shelved and Bing went on to other work.
